We are excited that your student received an offer for Arlington Tech! We have the following upcoming events:
- Virtual Accepted Families Night: This event was recorded.
- In-Person Accepted Student Night: We will hold an event on Thursday, April 23rd at 5:30pm and 7pm for families who have accepted their seat at Arlington Tech. Please save the date and we will send out details in the upcoming weeks.
We want students to decide fully informed about the expectations of the program:
- Arlington Tech is a Governor’s STEM Academy. We are preparing students for STEM fields by offering opportunities to explore STEM and CTE pathways through rigorous academics and authentic learning.
- Students take science and math all four years of high school and meet the expectations for an advanced diploma.
- With a focus on dual enrollment (DE), graduates earn a minimum of nine transferable college credits. The program is designed to scaffold students’ preparation and success in college.
- All 9th graders take Engineering 1 – a class built on design thinking that offers a foundation for the project-based learning they’ll experience throughout the program.
- We integrate collaboration and self-directed projects into our curriculum. Students will be working in groups and will develop collaboration and communication skills.
- We have many activities within our building and students often have ideas for new clubs and start their own, which we encourage. For those interested in other high school sports or activities, our dismissal times and sports buses allow students to travel directly to their home high school for practices and rehearsals.
- We are excited for the construction of the Grace Hopper Center (GHC). We will be moving into the building in August 2026. The building will hold multiple programs; Arlington Tech will be the largest.
- Many students from the comprehensive high schools come to the Grace Hopper Center during the day to take an elective. If your student is not interested in the Arlington Tech program but is interested in the electives at GHC, they can schedule that class through their high school counselor from their comprehensive high school. Most comprehensive high school students have room in their schedules to take a class at GHC by 10th or 11th grade.
Next Steps:
- Course Selection: Our counselors will visit each of the middle schools in the upcoming week to meet with students who have selected their courses. A counselor will also reach out to students coming from private schools. If you’d like to start making plans for course selection, here are some links to help with your discussions:
- All resources are posted on our academic planning page.
- Rising 9th graders use this course card ( 9th grade).
- 10th -12th grade use this card for core courses: 10-12 CRF and this card for electives: GHC card.
- For all grades, World Language classes are listed here
- A great resource for all grades is our “knowledge navigators” that offer a description of each of the classes: 9th grade, 10-12 Grade; GHC Electives
We hope this information is helpful and please reach out with any questions!
