Information for New Students

Here is some helpful information for students new to Arlington Tech:

  1. Email Communication: All communication is now sent through Parent Square. (Previous emails used Schoolmint.)  Throughout the year, you will receive Parent Square communication from both Arlington Tech and the Grace Hopper Center. Both will have information that is relevant to your student.
  2. Laptop Distribution: All 9th graders will receive a new APS MacBook to use while in high school.  We invite students to pick up their assigned MacBook on any of the following 3 Mondays:  August 3, August 10, or August 17.  Come to Columbia Pike Library from 11am – 3pm.
    • We are distributing from the Columbia Pike Library because students cannot access the old ACC building or the new GHC building.
    • If your student is not able to come on any Monday, there will be other opportunities!  Students will be able to pick one up at new student orientation or during the first week of school. Our preference is that students pick it up on a Monday to help spread out the numbers.
    • Students will need to turn in their APS iPad and charger (if a returning APS student) when they pick up their MacBook.
  3. Summer Assignments: This is a reminder that there are summer assignments posted on our website.
  4. New Student Orientation- August 27 at 10am: All new students are invited to come to new student orientation on August 27 from 10 – 11am.  This will be an opportunity to walk the building and find classrooms.  For students who cannot attend, all information will be repeated on the first day of school.
  5. Fall Sports:  Is your student interested in playing for their comprehensive high school?  You can stay updated through each school’s athletics page:
