Academics at Arlington Tech
Arlington Tech offers a STEM-focused program through the integration of academic classes and high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes.
Students are challenged to apply their theoretical and practical knowledge they learn through chosen pathways in long-term, open-ended projects that emerge from real-world, authentic problems or questions.
Key Components of the Arlington Tech Program
- Students take math and science each year in the program.
- All 9th graders take Engineering I.
- All students are enrolled in Algebra 2 by 10th grade year.
- Students take coursework aligned with a Virginia state Advanced Diploma.
- Students take classes within a cohort model. This means students take core classes with their grade-level peers to allow inter-curricular projects and support students taking college classes.
- Project-based learning curricular includes sustained collaborative projects with strong emphasis on communication, team work, and project management.
