Seniors Win C-Span Documentary Contest

Arlington Tech Government & Politics seniors competed in the C-SPAN StudentCam Student Documentary Competition this year. This is an annual competition for middle and high school students across the country. Students were tasked with creating a 5–6 minute documentary that responded to this year’s prompt: “Your message to the President: What issue is most important to you or your community?” This year, StudentCam received almost 3,500 entries. Two Arlington Tech groups were awarded prizes for their student documentaries.

Cody Finnegan and Mae Seward were awarded a third-place prize for their documentary titled “How to Save a Generation: Battling the Youth Drug Crisis.”

  • This recognition places them in the top 2% of all submissions nationwide and comes with a $750 prize

Caroline Schwebach, Margaret Odar, and Lukas Korcinskis were awarded an honorable mention for their documentary titled “A Matter of Life or Debt” about healthcare in the United States.

  • This recognition places them in the top 5% of all submissions nationwide and comes with a $250 prize.
